I am now represented by Felice Laverne at ArtHouse Literary!

I didn’t think I wanted an agent again, but I had a book that was too massive (scope and wordcount-wise) for a small press or any of the other methods I’d devised to get my work out there. On a whim, I participated in the (perhaps final) online pitch event #DVpit in October and posted a brief pitch for my book among many many thousands of others in a 24 hour window:

Adult Contemporary: TOMORROW, & TOMORROW, & TOMORROW x THE MARTIAN

Hollywood has taken over casting for a televised mission to Mars. Refugees & wanderers, frustrated scientists & bored adventurers all compete in a reality TV show for a ticket away from this mess. A fandom of teen hacker girls defy the showrunner to keep their faves on screen.

SEVENTEEN agents and a few editors expressed interest and wanted to see more. I was back on the familiar, gut-twisting rollercoaster of maybe maybe maybe… until at the end of it, I think I’ve found the best person to be the champion of this book. Felice Laverne. She was excited about the social commentary and laughed at all the funny parts and told me Dr. Rachel Kass was probably her favorite character in all of fiction. More than that, she is super smart and strategic. I’m really looking forward to working with her.

I really respect ArtHouse Literary and their continued work championing bold, thought-provoking and underrepresented voices. We’re going to have fun!
